The Congress of the International Association of Societies of DesignResearch (IASDR) is a biannual conference series allowing academics, practitioners and students join together to explore contemporary agendas, emerging directions and future challenges that are at the forefront of design research. The ninth conference will be hosted by The Hong Kong PolytechnicUniversity School of Design on 5-9 December 2021 with the theme of IASDR 2021is ‘[ _ ] With Design: Reinventing Design Modes’. This year’s conference is honoured to have the following renowned figures from the academia as distinguished keynote speakers:
Anne Boddington, Professor Emerita of Design Innovation at Kingston University
Nan Cao, Professor of TongJi College of Design and Innovation
Rachel Cooper, Distinguished Professor of Design Management and Policy at Lancaster University
Bruce Hanington, Professor and Head of the School of Design at Carnegie Mellon University
Don Norman, Distinguished Professor (emeritus) and Founder and first Director of the Design Lab at the University of California, San Diego
Miles Pennington, Professor of Design Led Innovation, The University of Tokyo
In addition, a rich programme with presentations of Papers, Pictorials, DesignedObjects, and graduate students’ works, together with workshops and panels, is targeted to attract around 600-700 academics, practitioners, students, and innovators from all over the world.
In the ever-changing global pandemic context of 2021, the congress is to be hosted entirely online, to allow for equal access from global attendees.
